1. Answer the following questions :

(a) Was it wrong to tell the boy to weed the garden ?

Ans. No, it was not wrong to tell the boy to weed the garden.

(b) Was the boy naughty ?

Ans. No, the boy was not naughty.

(c) Did the boy’s mother want him to work ?

Ans. Yes, the boy’s mother wanted him to work.

2. Find and write the lines that tell us the following :

(a) How the boy’s family took care of the garden.

Ans. The below lines tell us how the boy’s family took care of the garden :

    • The plants had to be watered everyday.
    • They had to be given manure from time to time.
    • They had to be cut and pruned at right time.
    • Everybody in the little boy’s family helped to take care of the garden.

(b) The little boy was about to cry.

Ans. The below line tells us that the little boy was about to cry:

    • His chin began to wobble, he had a lump in his throat and his eyes welled up.

(c) The boy and his mother worked happily and well.

Ans. The below line tells us that the boy and his mother worked happily and well:

    • The two of them weeded the garden beautifully and had a very good time together, working and chatting and laughing.

3. Write any two requests/ orders, first using ‘Go ….’ and then using ‘Come, let’s …..’. Which one would you use ?

Ans. Below are the requests using ‘Go ….’ and then using ‘Come, let’s …..’.

  • Go and finish your homework!
  • Go and wash your hands!
  • Come, let’s play.
  • Come, let’s go to the park.

I shall use the last one, Come, let’s go to the park.

4. Copy the words:

5. Write 3-5 lines about any grown-up person you like. Also write how you spend time with that person.

Ans. I like my grandmother very much. She is always smiling and ready to talk and hear to me. She has so many stories to tell me while sleeping. She also takes me to the park when my home-work is done. I like to spent time with my grandmother very much.
