What is the meaning of Welfare State ?
According to Concise Oxford Dictionary: “Welfare state is one which provides for national health, insurance and other social services.”
According to Kent: “Welfare state is a state that provides for its citizens a wide range of social services.”
The welfare state is a form of government in which the state protects and promotes the general happiness and welfare of the people. The principles of welfare state are based on equal opportunity, equitable distribution of wealth, and public responsibility for citizens who are unable to avail themselves of the minimal provisions for a good life.
A welfare state regards itself as an agency of social service rather than instrument of power.
What is the primary object of administrative law ?
The aim or primary objective of administrative law is to provide a control for preventing abuse and even non-use of power by administrative authorities, thereby providing a mechanism for a government to function in a transparent and accountable way.
Thus the primary objective of the administrative law is to keep the government authorities within their bounds, so that the legitimate interests of the citizens are not suffered.
